Frank returns to his glory circuit for BTCC finale

8th October 2013

Frank Wrathall and the Dynojet Racing team are hoping to turn their luck around this weekend (12/13 Oct) and take a shot at BTCC success at Brands Hatch, the venue for the final rounds of the 2013 season.

It was in the last race of 2012, also on the 2.4-mile Brands Grand Prix layout, that Toyota Avensis driver Frank claimed his first and, so far, only victory in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. A repeat of that result would be fantastic, says the Lancashire driver, but after a long and difficult season he'd be happy with a top-five finish.

"This is our last chance to get the result that we deserve," added Frank, who has just celebrated his 27th birthday. "We will all be giving it everything and trying our hardest to repeat what we achieved last year. However, our realistic aim is the top 10, and a top-five finish would be a satisfying result so that we could finish the year on a high."

Wrathall's last outing, at Silverstone at the end of September, promised much: he qualified the Toyota fifth on the grid but slipped in the first race to 14th. A bad crash in race two left Frank on the sidelines: "On the Saturday at Silverstone we did everything right; I still can't work out where we went wrong. But things can happen for us at Brands. It's the last chance to make it happen and I'll definitely be giving it everything."

Wrathall says that although the front end of the Avensis was badly broken in the Silverstone impact, it has not been too time-consuming to repair: "We always pretty much strip the car down to nothing, but there were a few extra bits and bobs needed replacing this time. The Toyota is not yet in one piece but we should be somewhere near by end of today and ready to head straight to Brands Hatch. The Grand Prix circuit is one of my favourites, and not just because I won there last year. It's one of the best to drive because of all the fast, flowing corners."

The Dynojet Racing team is backed by Mac Tools, FUCHS Titan Race, Toyota Material Handling, Klenzan, Dyno Drive, Angel Springs, K&N and Graphix.
